MoCap Solutions is the premiere manufacturer of mocap suits. Our new MoCap Suit, Synth-X, was designed to be comfortable, breathable and able to withstand any motion. In order to do this we incorporated a 3x3 stretch. We did this by completely reinventing the fabric from scratch.
3x3 stretch fabric is not your typical fabric. Standard fabrics are either 2-way stretch or 4-way stretch. 2-way stretch fabric stretches in one direction, while 4-way stretch fabric stretches in two directions. While a 4-way stretch mocap suit sounds like it would be the fabric that allows the most flexibility, it does not. We have found that creating a 3x3 stretch fabric allows for the most versatile motions. Our mocap suits use this 3x3 stretch to be more flexible, without stretching out and becoming loose. A 3x3 stretch allows the mocap suit to stay form fitting over the duration of filming.
Not only is our mocap suit customized with a 3x3 stretch fabric, our mocap markers are designed to stick to it like glue. We understand that a broken marker can ruin a perfect shot. The X-Base mocap marker design gives maximum grip and holding strength on a mocap suit with 3x3 stretch. The X-Base mocap markers are customizable, in that they can be cut easily with a pair of scissors right on set if you need an even more custom fit.
